Tevez: Conte wanted me at Chelsea

Argentine forward Carlos Tevez revealed he received a phone call from new Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte in regards to a return to the Premier League.

Tevez s playing future has been up in the air since Boca Juniors crashed out of the Copa Libertadores semi-finals at the hands of minnows Independiente del Valle a fortnight ago.

The 32-year-old said he was considering quitting football after the loss but has elected to continue playing on for Boca, despite interest from abroad – including West Ham and Corinthians.

And Tevez revealed he had even received a call from Conte  who signed the Argentina international at Juventus in 2013 about a move to Chelsea.

After the loss [to Independiente] we had two days off. I was shaken, like everyone at home…

Newcastle start Shaqiri talks

Newcastle United have contacted the representatives of Liverpool s Xherdan Shaqiri over a possible move this summer, according to Dominic King of the Daily Mail.

Liverpool signed Shaqiri from Stoke City in 2018 for a reported fee of £12 million, and it was clear from the start his role in Jurgen Klopp s team would be a fringe one. His contribution has been very important he scored and assisted some vital goals, and overall did a good job when called upon. However, it was never to be expected he would be able to take the place of any one of the front three in the starting XI, and it is believed he is no longer happy on the bench.

For their part, Liverpool seem to understand his position and they won t be standing in his way, should the initial talks develop into somethi…

Inter Milan enter race for Ziyech

According to a recent report from France Football, Italian side Inter Milan have entered themselves into the race to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. The 26 year old is said to be valued at £30 million, however, Inter aren’t the only team that have been sniffing around him as of late. Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City have all voiced their interest in signing for the Moroccan international, who featured for the African nation in the 2018 FIFA World Cup last year. Ziyech has been with Ajax since back in 2016 when he made the jump over from Twente, having spent the entirety of his professional career in the Netherlands.

In terms of how viable this move could be, it seems like Inter could be one of the frontrunner due to the rumoured departure of Mauro Ica…

Marcus Rashford has posted an emotional thanks for the support he has received following his penalty miss in the Euro 2020 final, despite the Manchester United forward having been the recipient of racial abuse.

Rashford hit the post with his spot-kick in England s 3-2 shoot-out defeat to Italy – Gianluigi Donnarumma subsequently saving efforts from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.

United star Rashford had been introduced by Gareth Southgate in the dying embers of extra time at Wembley, seemingly specifically with penalties in mind.

After the game, the 23-year-old – whose fight for children to have access to free school meals has led to a shift in UK government policy – along with Saka, Sancho and Raheem Sterling, was targetted by hateful messages on social med…
